Competencies are broadened, cooperation structures based on partnership are designed, programmes and projects are planned, managed and assessed, and personal skills enhanced: this twelve-month postgraduate course is the ideal prerequisite for a career start in the field of development cooperation.
The one-year postgraduate course of study runs from January to December. Attendance at this full-time course is mandatory. Each year twenty participants broaden their knowledge of development policy and become familiar with strategies and instruments for sustainable development.
Participants furthermore tackle in-depth the specific management methods applied in development cooperation, extending and professionalizing their communication, stress management and team skills.
Under the guidance of an experienced team leader, participants put these skills to use in the course of working on a six-month commissioned report, one element of which is a three-month project placement abroad (Overseas Projects). Funded by partially repayable scholarships, the SLE postgraduate course has been at the heart of SLE for fifty years and is constantly upgraded.
