SLE has reserved small two-room apartments with a shared bathroom at a university guesthouse. The rooms will be offered to holders of scholarships for two consecutive courses. The rent for four weeks is between €450 and €560 per person per room. Participants should arrive on 4 August at the earliest. An additional overnight stay (prior to 4 August) will cost approx. €50 per night. The guesthouse is modest but safe and located in the centre of Berlin within walking distance of SLE. Participants staying at this guesthouse should arrive before 10 p.m. on the day of their arrival. Should scholarshipholders not make use of this offer, the rooms will be offered to other course participants. In general the guesthouse is in heavy demand during the summer. We nevertheless encourage participants who do not hold a funded scholarship to enquire at the guesthouse if rooms are available and what they cost. The House of Nations offers accommodation in one and two-room apartments in different parts of Berlin for a minimum period of one month, starting at € 230 per month. Although you may want to stay only two weeks, it might be cheaper to rent a place for a whole month. International flat-sharing agencies arrange accommodation across borders and are open to people from all over the world. The following agency specializes in arranging accommodation for students and does not charge excessive prices or a commission: INTAS - The International Accommodation Service arranges reasonably priced accommodation in Berlin for international students. The German hosts generally speak English and will be happy to assist you. Other international agencies can be reached via the European Shared Accommodation Ring (Ring Europäischer Mitwohnzentralen e.V. - REM) using a nationwide number 19430 preceded by the relevant local dialling code (for example, 030 -19430 in Berlin or 0228-19430 in Bonn) or by going to the REM website at: www.mitwohnzentrale.de. Ask for an accommodation request form (Vermittlungsauftrag) where you can specify your wishes. It is worth following up your request with all of these agencies at regular intervals. Never pay any charges in advance. Agencies are only permitted to charge a commission if a legally binding rent agreement has already been signed.
